From Boredom Blooms Creativity: Look What's New!

I hope you have all been safe and staying well in these challenging times. I sure miss the personal interaction with many of you at craft shows, garden club presentations, and other events. Here's hoping we can return to some normalcy in the next few months as more and more people receive their vaccines.

Having my little studio and creating with pressed flowers has certainly reduced some of the stress and boredom caused by the pandemic. For that, I am so grateful. In recent weeks, I've used this time to create four, new pressed flower pieces that I would like to share with you.

February Collage

This piece was made from last summer's flowers including morning glories, cosmos, delphinium lavender, primrose, and maidenhair ferns. QUIZ: Who can identify the leaf in the lower left corner? Write your answer in the comments. This pressed flower piece is available with or without a 12 x 14-inch mat and frame. The vibrant colors of this piece are sure to brighten any corner of your home.

Orange Cat

Orange cats are my favorites. I've had seven cats in my adult life and all have been orange. Inspired by an online class with the World Wide Pressed Flower Guild, I had such fun making this cat with Bright Light cosmos and primroses. While this piece sold shortly after it was completed, I can make more cats, in different colors, as well. Email me if you would like to have a pressed flower cat!

Hollyhocks

Hollyhocks are a cottage garden favorite and one of my favorites also, especially the single petal variety. They are striking in the garden and as pressed flower art. The two original pressed flower pieces below are made from hollyhocks that I grew in my gardens.

The purple one on the left is embellished with honeysuckle florets and vines. The one on the right darkened as it was pressed in the Microfleur (microwave flower press) but its no less beautiful. Both pieces are available, with or without a 12x14 mat and frame.
