Lavender

Updated: Feb 20, 2019

Today I was thinking about lavender and how much I love all the varieties of that plant. Lavender has a fragrance that I have been so partial to for many, many years. Not only is it easy to grow, it is easy to harvest and to use in so many ways. Lavender can be dried and used in sachets and potpourri. It also presses beautifully. I often use lavender in my pressed flower art; sometimes as a filler and sometimes it is the focal point of my creations.

I’m not one who is knowledgeable or especially interested in the ‘language of flowers’. But for some reason today I felt compelled to look up the meaning of lavender. “When given as a gift, lavender flowers represent luck. They also offer the promise of new adventure.”

WOW! How appropriate! Very recently I completed a framed pressed flower picture as a gift for two special people in my life. It included several stems of lavender. These two special people are definitely promised a new adventure in about 7 weeks – the adventure of parenthood for the first time! So, here's wishing you loads of luck, R and O and loads of lavender!
